Here’s how it works: Neptune and Uranus are packed with methane gas. Deep beneath their thick blue atmospheres, things get pretty intense—the temperature soars, and the pressure would make a sumo wrestler feel weightless. Under such extreme conditions, the methane molecules start to break apart, setting free carbon atoms. And what happens next? Those carbon atoms get crushed by the immense pressure into tiny diamonds, which fall through the atmosphere like sparkling rain!


Picture millions of glittering diamonds drifting down through the inky blue skies of these mysterious giants. The diamonds probably don’t stay solid forever—eventually, they might melt into a sea of liquid carbon as they fall even deeper.
